Who hires a street sweeper
Councils running programmed suburb sweeps. Developers handing over new estate roads. Estate and industrial park managers maintaining internal road networks. Event organisers turning a precinct around overnight. The common factor is a repeating route rather than a single patch of mud.
What a programmed run involves
A route, a cycle and a window. We sweep kerb and channel into the corner rather than just the traffic lane, leave gully pit grates clear rather than capped with spoil, and finish without a windrow of material abandoned where the operator stopped. Early-morning starts are the norm so the run is done before traffic builds.
Frequency that holds up
Completed residential streets suit quarterly, with an extra run before storm season on anything heavily treed. Industrial estate roads suit monthly. Town centres and busy retail precincts suit weekly. Active civil works need daily or every-second-day, which is road sweeper territory rather than a programmed street run.
Machines for street work
Regenerative-air sweepers for fine sediment across a full lane width — the right machine for most Queensland street work, which is a fine-material problem rather than a boulder problem. Mechanical broom units for heavy bulk like gravel and spoil. Vacuum sweepers where leaves, litter and wet material in the channel dominate.
Reporting and accountability
On a programmed contract you should be able to answer what was swept, when, and where the material went. We report runs completed, machine hours and disposal at whatever interval the contract requires, which is normally exactly what a council officer or an auditor asks for.
At a glance
| Cycle | Typical route | What it targets |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | Town centres and busy retail precincts | Litter and foot-traffic debris |
| Monthly | Industrial estate roads and internal networks | Truck-tracked grit and sediment |
| Quarterly | Completed residential streets | General road debris |
| Seasonal extra | Heavily treed streets before storm season | Leaf litter blocking gully pits |
| Reactive | Post-event and post-storm | Whatever the event left behind |
Street sweeping by location

Street sweeper hire — questions
Something else? Call 1300 387 713 and talk to someone who runs the machines.
Do you tender for council street sweeping contracts?
Yes. Programmed street sweeping is core work for us and we will price a multi-year run as readily as a single suburb.
Does street sweeper hire include the operator?
Yes. Street sweepers are truck-mounted heavy vehicles and go out with our own licensed, inducted operator.
Can a street sweeper clean a car park?
Open surface car parks and hardstand, yes. Multi-level and basement car parks need a ride-on sweeper instead because of height limits and turning circles.
How far will you travel for a street sweeping program?
Across South East Queensland as standard, and into regional Queensland or northern New South Wales for contract and project work with travel itemised openly.
Can you sweep after an event or a storm?
Yes. Post-event precinct cleans and reactive call-outs after storms are regular work, usually done overnight or early morning.
